The EWK (single-comb mating box) is an indispensable tool for the controlled mating of queen bees – both at isolated and semi-isolated mating stations, or for mating at the apiary. It serves as a temporary dwelling for the queen during her mating flight and is optimally tailored to the needs of professional beekeepers.

• Solid hardwood: The EWK is made of high-quality, durable hardwood. Its sturdy construction ensures a long lifespan, even with frequent use. The wood is additionally oiled with linseed oil for maintenance and weather resistance.

• Tightly sealing wooden lid: The wooden top cover seals airtight all around. This keeps the fondant (candy) fresh and moist for longer – a crucial advantage during the mating season. For optimal results, we recommend placing a layer of baking or parchment paper underneath the candy. This prevents premature drying and makes cleaning the feeding chamber easier.
• Polycarbonate side panels: The side walls are made of shatterproof polycarbonate – extremely stable, impact-resistant and transparent to facilitate the view inside.
• Ventilated bottom grille: The removable bottom grille ensures excellent air circulation and allows for easy cleaning of dirt or condensation.
• Flexible entrance closure: The side entrance slider has four different openings, suitable for worker bees, drones, queen or for complete ventilation closure – flexibly adjustable depending on the breeding phase.
• Frame holder with stainless steel screws: Inside is a frame strip for honeycomb formation, which can be easily removed or replaced if necessary thanks to rust-free screws.
• Milled grooves for easy handling: The side grip recesses make it easier to remove and insert the box from mating boxes or transport boxes – comfortably and safely.
